Hey Melissa, when did you start with Wishroute?

March of 2020

Tell us a little about yourself. What’s your professional background?

I started out in hopes of becoming an Athletic Trainer, then I stumbled upon teaching my senior year of college and decided to pursue that as a career. I teach Middle School PE and Health, as well as coach High School Girls Volleyball. Wellness kind of runs in my blood :).

How about on a personal note. What are some cool things to know about you?

When I’m not molding the minds of teenage youth, you can find me in the kitchen. I LOVE to cook and bake, and I have a little side hustle bakery where I bake all sorts of goodies for friends and family. If I’m not in the kitchen, I’m out doing some sort of physical activity. I love being active, and am up for anything that can get my heart rate up! I’m also the proud owner of a 9 month old Pit Bull named Mari, so she is currently taking up some time with training, but I love going on adventures with her and introducing her to new things in her “furever” home!

What do you do for Wishroute in your position?

I started out as a Wishroute Guide supporting people in achieving their wellness goals, and worked my way to be a Point Person, where I supervise Guides on duty. I also have the opportunity to work with new Guides and train them in our judgment-free methodology!

‍What made you choose to join Wishroute?

I’m a helper and motivator by nature, and the platform in which we help our users is so unique, that I had to dive in. I also enjoy the challenge of motivating and supporting people that are not in the same age range as my students. It makes me feel amazing to help everyone I can!

What do you like most about working at Wishroute?

As a teacher, it’s hard to find a job that is flexible, and Wishroute provides me the flexibility I need to teach and be a part of the WR team. And even though I have never actually met any of our team in person, we are a well-oiled machine, and I feel comfortable asking questions and asking for guidance. Nothing a quick phone call, text, or Google Meet can’t fix!

What’s one wellness goal you’ve set for yourself in 2021?

Trying to be more consistent with meal prepping. I’m amazing at it over the summer when I’m not working, but can be a little lax during the school year. I’m really trying to make it a point to take the time to make meals for myself, even if it’s later than I’d like. It really makes all the difference, and I feel so much better when I cook something that is good for me and delicious!
